What video production actually costs.

Most video production companies won't tell you what they charge. You fill in a form, get a call, and find out the number after someone's spent twenty minutes qualifying you.

We think that's backwards. Here's what we charge.

What's included in every package

  • Two-person crew, so nobody's running a camera and monitoring sound at the same time
  • Cinema camera, professional lighting and audio
  • Licensed music through our Artlist subscription, at no extra charge
  • Colour grade and audio mix
  • Travel within 30 miles of Ashington, covering Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham, most of Northumberland
  • £5m public liability insurance

What isn't

We'd rather you saw these now than on an invoice.

  • Actors and voiceover talent. Real staff are usually better anyway.
  • Location hire and filming permits. Council permits for Newcastle city centre locations, private venue fees.
  • Stock footage and library music beyond our subscription.
  • Subtitles and translation. Burned-in captions add roughly half a day of edit time.
  • Travel beyond 30 miles, and accommodation where the call time makes a return journey impractical.
  • Extra revision rounds past the three included.

What moves the price

Three things, and only three.

Days of filming

The biggest single factor. A half day and a full day are not a small difference. A full day is roughly twice the footage and twice the edit.

Number of locations

Every move is an hour of derig, travel and rerig that isn't filming.

Edit complexity

A talking head with captions and a two-minute film with motion graphics, archive footage and a narrative structure are different jobs on the same timeline.

If you tell us those three things, we can quote you accurately over the phone.

Try the cost calculator if you would rather see a rough number first.

How the money works

50% deposit on approval, which holds your date and covers the planning, crew booking and kit allocation we commit to immediately. 50% on delivery, before final files are released.

Your date isn't held until the deposit lands. We'll keep taking enquiries for it until then.

Two things people get caught by

Raw footage isn't yours by default

You own the finished film and can use it as agreed. The rushes stay with us. We hold them for 90 days, then they're deleted. If you want them, it's £30 a year to keep them archived, or on an SSD at cost plus £50. Ask before the shoot, not eighteen months later.

You can't recut the film without asking

You're licensed to use it as delivered. Wanting a 30-second version pulled out of it eight months later is a normal request and usually a quick job, so just come back to us.

Cancellation

Under 14 days100% of the total

Rescheduling needs 14 days notice. Less than that and it's 25% of the total contracted fee per affected day, subject to availability.

We commit crew and kit as soon as you approve. That's what these terms cover.

Full terms and conditions

Where we sit

You can hire a solo videographer in the North East for £400 a day. You can hire a Newcastle agency for £3,000. Both are legitimate; they're different products.

We're a two-person crew running broadcast-grade kit, based in Northumberland rather than a city-centre office. That's the whole reason we can charge what a small agency charges without the overhead sitting in your quote.

If your budget is £600, we're not your answer, and we'll tell you that on the first call rather than after three meetings.

Tell us the three things

Days of filming, number of locations, how complex the edit is. That's enough for a real number.
